Conciencia Visual para la Vida Urbana. Mural at Festival ‘Por el Medio de la Calle’

Caracas, Venezuela. June 2010

The pilot stage of Conciencia Visual finalised in June 2010 as part of the line-up of the  Festival Por el Medio de la Calle 2010. With sponsorship from UNICEF and 20,000 visitors, the urban art festival each encourages residents of the Chacao area to enjoy and take ownership of the city space, becoming natural guardians, therefore reducing the risk of crime.

Conciencia Visual proposed an urban intervention with graffitti and stencil, as mediums to create a communication platform with crime prevention messages aimed at, and created by Venezuelan youths. This platform materialised in a 20 mts collective mural painted by seven young urban artists. ‘No more Paranoia’ was the centre of the crime prevention story.
